In India it’s recommended that if you have toxins in your body, need to lose weight, have been drinking and eating processed foods, lots of fats, smoking, been stressed out and over worked, or not taking care of yourself… that you use mixture of mung beans and rice to cleans your GI tract and liver.
Thus boosting up your energy level and at the same time clearing that foggy minded feeling… and leading you to a simpler way of eating.
This is very popular even with some of the biggest weight loss TV program, people in drug abuse programs, and very popular with Ayurvedic Medicine.
Mung beans and rice is simple but nutritious food that will do your body good. You can buy mung beans at any Asian market, and you can use brown rice , or you could use basmati rice, and in pinch white rice will work.
This is simple to prepare… and simple to eat.
Here are the ingredients:
1/2 cup of Basmati Rice (Brown rice needs to be cooked longer so you will have to cook it separately)
1/2 cup of Mung Beans
2 cups of Water
2 teaspoons of Coriander Powder
2 teaspoons of Curry Powder
2 tablespoons of Chopped Garlic
1/2 cup of Chopped Onion
Salt and Pepper to Taste
You can add a little butter or ghee which is clarified butter also – just a little bit.
Add all ingredients to a sauce pan and bring to a full boil.
Now place the lid on the pan and shut off the heat, let sit covered for 30 minutes.
Now add a little chopped Cilantro, fluff with a fork… it’s ready to eat.
You can also add 1 cup of any kind of chopped veggies to this before cooking and it will come out great- perhaps carrots, cabbage, broccoli, or cauliflower.
