Evolving Our Souls With Celestial Wisdom
Once a new section of the revelation appeared, it was carefully typed and checked, and then read aloud at the Forum meetings. The Forum members consisted of people from all walks of life who were vetted and then invited to participate by Dr. Sadler and his wife Dr. Lena Sadler, and who were required to sign a pledge of confidentiality. The Forum’s primary role was to “ground” the process by providing ordinary human feedback to the celestial authors via the six contact commissioners. This unusual process led to the appearance of second and even third drafts of papers based on further input from the larger group. Over the years, the Forum’s contribution included (but was not limited to) hundreds upon hundreds of questions—the answers to which were seamlessly woven throughout the text of The Urantia Book in its later and final drafts. The book was first printed in 1955 and has been through innumerable reprintings.
THE GIFT OF CONTINUING REVELATION: THE TEACHING MISSION
What I find also of great import is the continuing disclosure of previously unknown universe realities, a new feature that is controversial and not by any means accepted by all Urantians. Here’s the rather amazing scenario: As if all of the above is not enough, we are now witnessing an ongoing revelation beyond The Urantia Book. This new material augments the core teaching and uses it as a kind of cosmic reference text. In this regard, the original Urantia material, which is highly structured and systematic, becomes like a “metaphysician’s desk reference” for less structured, “live” dialogue sessions with celestial beings.
These additional disclosures and updated teachings began when something entirely new erupted in the late 1980s; I believe it was directed at an up-and-coming generation of Urantia students—primarily “boomers.” These folks were coming of age after the generation that originally published and disseminated The Urantia Book. I myself am part of that new generation.
I think of this new phenomenon as “supplemental revelation” or as part of an Urantia Revelation process. The formal name given it by the celestials is the Teaching Mission. It is significant that this period of time also marks the advent of all sorts of other channeled information, new publications that range from the teachings of Seth to Lazaris to A Course in Miracles to Abraham. None of these sources utilized the Urantia material as a reference; I believe these spiritually potent materials were intentionally directed at different audiences and cultural groups in the American New Age movement.
