Evolving Our Souls With Celestial Wisdom
Personally, I go even further: I want to also know just what’s this mysterious cosmic enterprise is all about. Why do we live these difficult, short lives? What happens after we die? What’s the true purpose of this huge and complicated universe? Over decades of study, I’ve discovered that the Urantia Revelation was uniquely designed to answer such questions, and I believe it does a brilliant job at it.
In fact, its descriptions go all the way up to the top of the universe “holarchy.” We meet, for example, the omniscient beings who preside over our galaxy—a trio of high celestials known as “Ancients of Days” who purportedly sponsored this strange book’s revelatory presentations to our planet at the far edge of the Milky Way.
But more important, The Urantia Book introduces our immediate creator parents: Christ himself and his divine feminine consort who is known as “Mother Spirit.” These two originated our local universe of nearly four million
Inhabited planets; they set in motion the evolution of life on each of these worlds, and created the angelic host and the planetary celestial government that watches carefully over each one of us. This book reveals too that Christ and Mother Spirit maintain personal relationships with each one of their human creatures through their Holy Spirit and Spirit of Truth. But do these “big guys upstairs” really care about us? The answer, we read in the Urantia text, is that they know all too well about our travails down here. Indeed, Christ incarnated on Earth to get very intimate with our crazy way of life down here. From the point of view of the “upstairs,” we are players on a cosmic stage and they are our full-time heavenly audience, adoring us, guiding us, and cheering us on in our often very perilous path to perfection. And it’s a big universe out there: we’re just one of seven trillion inhabited worlds in the space-time universes, even though the story of our planet—known on high by the name of “Urantia”—is quite unique. Our radical uniqueness is in fact one reason why the Urantia text is so lengthy and complex.
