Why I Call God, Grandmother

I was fortunate, because my grandmother, of Cherokee heritage, influenced my childhood. Only recently because of the ‘AWAKENING’ millions have begun searching for the truth of creation. Many are driven by a remembrance of their own ancient cultures and traditions. Grandmother was born in the Great Smokey Mountains in Tennessee, She spoke in riddles, talked to bees and butterflies, and repeated the Cherokee stories about death and the journey of life. She taught me in certainty that life, and the soul, is a circle-never ending, and to not fear life or death.

“WE CAME FROM THE STARS,” GRANDMOTHER SAID

From a very young child, before 4 years old, I remember the look on the faces of my siblings, mother and relatives when my grandmother began to tell one of her stories, in a very low voice just above a loud whisper. The world stopped as we all leaned in close to hear what she was saying. Years later I recognized it was a shift in spiritual energy and we were entering a sacred space, just as the way one feels in a temple or traditional church when the energy changes. God’s presence rushes in likened to a welcoming of a very important guest in your home.

It was through her stories and the love for her family that I learned about God, although she never used that name for the Creator. Sometimes she would begin her story by reminding us that our ancestors came from a star system known forever as The Pleiades. The Cherokee called our home the Seven Sisters. The Great Mother/Father, she said, who created all living things, designed a plan to give a great gift to her new creation, her humankind-the womb. After all the plants, sea-creatures, flying creatures and other animals were in balance she looked around and very pleased, called it paradise. She instructed humankind whose bodies were both male and female at the time, just like her, to begin the transformation to populate paradise. Soon the plan was complete and humankind began to honor the gift of co-creation- the womb.

The sacred masculine and feminine were equal in their creation. Within the female body the great mystery still resides. Some of her creation chose not to separate but remain as “Two Spirits”, those who became medicine people, elders, teachers, and healers, neither noticeable male nor female, and sometimes both. They held a very high position in the community, and everyone was respectful. The Great Mother put within the soul of each humankind the remembrance of all possibilities- the eternal lineage of who we are and where we came from. Co-creation, birth is that promise that we are made in the image of perfection and light. That image of the Great Mother can never, never, never die, she repeated herself three times-which sealed the message.

The Soul is an ETERNAL SPIRIT that dwells in a TEMPORARY BODY that will ALWAYS return back to the Great Mother.

Unlike the traditional Christian stories, my grandmother created no fear in my young heart towards the Supreme Creator. She repeated ancient stories about our connection to nature, the importance of being a caretaker of the water, the earth, other sacred creators including other humans and the importance of serving the community. There was no punishment, hell, fire and brimstone for children, or adults for each sunrise was a blessing and an opportunity to work together for the higher good of the community. Grandmother explained that everyone had a good purpose within the community.

This included leaving no child orphaned and women were protected- never abandoned upon the death of their husbands.

I learned from my grandmother that all things are connected through life and death-it is the same for plants, the winged creatures, sea creatures, and animal creators. Humankind has a very special reason to be on the earth, assigned as a caretaker. For example: if we lose one of our connections, our links, as in the death of the bee, our gardens will not grow. Her stories were always about a “Remembrance” of harmony, balance and being a good person in this lifetime, simply because it brings peace to our lives-not because of punishment in the afterlife. The afterlife was not a place that spirit went for punishment but for encouragement and great celebration surrounded by love and light until we made the choice to return.

Humans are created with one soul unique to them for eternity.

Even through many lifetimes ones unique soul’s personality traits most often remain the same. That is how people on earth identify a reincarnated loved one. Also only humankind created by the Great Mother has the privilege of reincarnation. Angels, spirit guides, and universal guardians have never been human; their assignment is to aid humanity when beckoned. No mistake or misjudgment on our part will ever separate us from that promise of eternity and our return. A divine plan has been in place since the beginning of creation just for us. Grandmother said, “Courage, love, compassion, empathy and forgiveness are a few of our human traits, gifts that were given at the time of human creation.

Humankind are capable of great and wonderful accomplishments when in balance and connected to the truth of their creation. This connection brings peace to the heart and great joy while living on this planet. Grandmother would pause, the energy amazingly warm and lovely in the room. She smiled while moving to the kitchen where she began placing food on her table for all her special guests. I was always one of them.

Throughout my life I have held on to a vision of God who loves me like my grandmother. Thank you grandmother for the sunrise, for life’s opportunities, for the still small voice from within that guides me, and for the promise of the return to perfect love. Grandmother I will never be afraid, for you are at my journey’s end.
