Anxiety and Self Doubt

There are two types of fear, the natural survival fear that is built within us, and such fears are necessary, because, without them, we would be walking off cliffs, or crossing streets without looking. There is another type of fear, however, and this fear is illogical fear which is created from our own minds. This is worry, anxiety and self-doubt. A troubled mind consumed by illogical fear creates negative mental pictures and assumptions about the future. And, such thinking holds us back from making proper decisions, or, taking steps to advance our lives. This is the person who rejects a job promotion because it involves public speaking, or the person that avoids visiting loved ones because he fears flying, or someone who stays in a bad relationship, because, the fear of being alone is stronger than the need for personal peace.

Fear is a cruel energy that will trap you in your most vulnerable moments, and it will disguise itself to have you believe that it is taking care of you. Fear comes from the ego part of our consciousness. And, you must always be on guard of its trickery to have to believe that the wrong is right, or, believing in a false sense of danger. Illogical fear will also have you delay (or avoid) your goals and dreams. It will try to convince you that you’re not good enough or you will fail. And, when it comes to your peace of mind it always looks at the many ways something will go wrong, instead of, how things can turn out right.

Fear knows when you are trying to move toward positive energy and it looks for creative ways to prevent you from doing so. It will have you form lazy type habits, avoid people, or, in some cases, create an illness to avoid doing what you have to do in order to live better. The fear energy may not necessarily “feel fearful” it may be subtle in the sense of avoidance, feeling depressed, tired or stuck in life. Fear likes things to stay the same, because it is an easy way to feel in control of your world.

Fear can be very powerful to create excuses, and sometimes, actually manifest a real excuse like an illness. For example, a child may actually manifest a fever, because, he does not want to go to school. Or, people may subconsciously find reasons to take time off work because they hate their jobs.

When it comes to personal advancement nothing is in your way but yourself. We are our own prisoners and prison guards at the same time. We have captured and imprisoned ourselves and we prevent ourselves from our own escape to freedom. Be willing to challenge your illogical fears or insecurities. Keep insisting to yourself that you are tired of living with negativity, and fed up of holding yourself back in life. Let fear know that you are the boss, and it cannot control you anymore. It has lost its power like a dead battery.

If fearful or negative thoughts show up in your mind stay calm and smile. And, I mean literally smile. Put a simple little smile on your face and watch what happens to all your distressing thoughts. They fall away. A smile comes from play and courage. And, it is far more powerful than fear. Smile at the negative mind and say to it; I know what you are trying to do and you cannot scare me anymore. Stand up to fear and set it straight. As you do this for a while you will notice that your anxieties will lessen and your courage will strengthen.

Also practice to try new things. Give your mind the message that you are ready to snap out of the familiar and routines of life. Start with simple things like sitting in a different chair than you’re used to, try listening to new types of music, visit new parts of the city, try new restaurants, or, simply do things you would not normally do. If you are right handed then start using your left hand to open doors or jars etc. Fear wants to keep you stagnant and rigid, so, it is important that you do not listen to the voice of illogical fear anymore. By doing new things and stretching your skills, mentality and desire for self-development, you are giving your subconscious mind the message that you want things to change and you are not afraid to change. And, this feeling is truly a wonderful and powerful place to live from.
