Marlise:     Janet, I don’t know if you get this but I think you are personally changing a global conversation. Tell us how you have managed to defy all the odds and be exactly where you are, speaking out about identity, race, gender, and sexuality – continual hot topics in society.

Janet Mock:      I think that all of us come to that space eventually when we are dedicated to fighting for who we know we truly are meant to be.  And so for me because of the packaging around me, it was easier, well not easier. I guess it was difficult, but it was more urgent for me to discover that at a very young age, specifically as a child, and then to be the woman I knew myself to be.
