Signs, Signs, Everywhere a Sign – What Do All The Signs Mean?

by Debbie Laughlin

Numbers, animals, words, music, etc., are just a few examples of the gifts of knowledge woven into our daily experiences. It is very easy to neglect these signs because they are just far too common for the most part, and we are far too are busy to notice them. Then, there is this crazy idea that we need fireworks and lightening to enlighten us, which is not the case.

Divine messages are subtle and poignant. They come in to guide us, to nudge us, and to help us acknowledge life with a different reception, and the messages tend to be simple. Unfortunately, it isn’t until we are horribly inconvenienced and our natural senses are disturbed that we awaken and begin to pay attention to the signs.

So, is there really something deeper to know? That is all open to interpretation and one’s perception. If we decide to step up and dig into our habits and patterns, the odds are pretty good that the untapped information of the delicate signs are waiting for us to discover and uncover them. All we need to do is unplug for a moment.

When we take that much-needed pause, we slow down the momentum of verve and timing is everything. If we become too embedded in chaos as most of are, we lose insight and the attention to details both small and large. This affects all aspects of our living, breathing day. Being harried tends to make things messy, sloppy, and become a one-way ticket to regret. We all understand a split-second action can make a huge difference, and it is no secret that the difference can be life or death. This may sound a bit dramatic, but can be the truth.

This isn’t saying you should put life on hold; it simply means pausing to take a breath or two or many in gratitude will be beneficial. With mindfulness, our practice of awareness is enhanced even when life seems to be going 100 mph. We can observe, participate and get in touch with the signals as we internally say thank you for this ability. Think of it as multitasking with the attitude of gratitude. Doing so really centers the ego. As we lean into this, we get a bigger sense of totality. When we achieve totality, it is easier to receive. So unwind, settle down, and take a moment to stop and smell the proverbial roses.

This concept is about appreciation, respecting our time as well as our body, our mind, and life in general. It is about self-importance and/or un-importance – it’s your choice. When we honor our inner substance by honoring simplicity, we can see the meanings of those signs and omens a bit clearer. They stand for us, they show us time and space, and they give us something to consider. They are possibilities – both full and empty – but we have to put the brakes on life every now and then to see them.

Being quietly balanced in a collected state, we are far more likely to be open to the signs and small pleasures that create large impacts on our life. In neutral calm, we make better decisions, we see better, we feel better, and we are in a heightened state of awareness. For example, sounds brighten, touch is more sensual, sights are more pleasing and the world is a kinder place all around.

Not to say that we won’t have problems, but we will have more sensibility when the aggravations arise. If we are really in tune, the things that are symbolic become an ally of our intuition and the teacher of greater patience, which in turn will lessen the drama of an untidy situation.

No one else can really interpret our signs because they are personal to us. It is up to each one of us to do the work as it relates to our experiences. By embracing the feelings and the gut sensations that are triggered by sight and memory, we ignite a deeper connection to our surroundings.

Take in the signs and take them lightly. Life itself has no agenda or desire to hide anything from us, yet we have to recognize the moments. In order to do that, we need to breathe. The signs are everywhere if we are open to them. Seeing our favorite number in repetition, having our totem animal cross our path or hearing a song that opens the floodgates is the gift of life. Smile. It is up to each one of us to pause and accept the delivery of these signs.
