It’s harvest time! How does your garden grow? Are you enjoying its fruits? Feeling satiated and supported, or is your stomach (or spirit) empty?

Such are the questions of the 2016 Taurus Full Moon. It’s lighting up the physical circumstances of life, with an emphasis on how secure and satisfied they’re making you feel. Taking stock of and acknowledging bounty may have become an afterthought in modern Thanksgiving celebrations, but it’s certainly taking center stage in the weeks before the holiday, this year.

The ground beneath our feet has been feeling increasingly solid and trustworthy in the last month or so. The haziness and confusion that blanketed most of the year has largely died back, and we’re seeing with increasing clarity just where we are, who’s standing with us and where our path is heading.

The 2016 Taurus Full Moon is providing a good look at it all. More than a look, actually; the 2016 Taurus Full Moon has us experiencing it with all the senses. It’s time to stop and smell the roses and, let’s not forget, the cash.

Does the physicality of your life please you? Does it make the little kid inside you feel safe and secure? Indulging is the only way to know for certain. Concepts and theory have no place in Taurus’s thoroughly worldly realm (though artistry and the spiritual are certainly welcome, provided they beam down onto terra firma).

Taurus is the “Show Me” moon, also known as the “Show Me the Money” moon, requiring tangible proof that it can rely on, touch, bite and take to the bank. Hailed as the super moon of the century because of its record-breaking proximity to earth, this year’s promises to be off-the-charts in whipping up appetites and bottomless pits of hunger.

As you taste (let’s be honest: devour) the fruits of the 2016 Taurus Full Moon, consider the quality of what you’re consuming and experiencing. Are you enjoying it? Does it make you feel good? Is it the equivalent of junk food, filling emptiness without nourishing or truly satisfying? Do you want more? A lot more? Do you want it with you for the long run?

The moment’s pleasures are not all we’re tasting and testing. This year’s model is a have-it-all event. As we hunger for and enjoy today’s tangible, consumable reward, an ever so practical eye is also fixed on long-term satisfaction and security as well.

Awareness of the long game and the bottom line comes from the 2016 Taurus Full Moon’s ruler, Venus, ruler of all we value and desire (love, money, creativity, precious baubles). She’s recently moved from philosophical, fun-and-games Sagittarius to eminently practical, some might say cold, Capricorn. “Santa Baby” is her theme song here, given her preference for lasting value in relationships, financial dealings and what she chooses to own.

The 2016 Taurus Full Moon is a measuring point. Take stock. Indulge (though Venus’ Capricorn bent may reign in that impulse with awareness of the cost, and definitely with the caution to store some for winter and beyond). Consume. Enjoy — your surroundings, the taste and sensation of food, drink, clothing against your skin, the sound of music and laughter, the scents of nature, the reliability and emotional support of people and situations in your life. Notice what — and who — falls short, or doesn’t make you feel good (in the moment or the long run). The inherent releasing powers of a Full Moon may make it easy to let go of what is not supportive, nourishing or rewarding.

Venus’ calculations, and the physical supportability of our lives, dominate the remainder of the month. By the end, relationships, desires and all manner of arrangements will be in vastly improved, refocused and unfettered condition. Until then, be here now. But take heed of later.
