Mental health isn’t something that is applicable to just some of us—it applies to all of us. We all have mental health, just as we all have physical and emotional health. And just as we all struggle now and then to stay in shape, or manage our emotions, so too will we all face times when our mental health will be impacted by circumstances beyond our control.

CRACKED! The Podcast will bring fresh perspectives to a topic that affects us all. No aspect of mental health from its wide variety of expressions to the multitude of seen and unseen things that can influence it will go unexamined.

Mental health – To most people, this phrase means ‘mental illness.’

Most people are wrong.

Stress, grief, loss, worry, bereavement, health challenges, and periods of uncertainty are inevitable life experiences; anyone can tip the scales and throw us off-balance. Our body is an integrated system, so disruptions in one area will affect other areas such as brain chemistry, hormones, digestive health—even our vital organs. At times like these, getting motivated, maintaining a sense of proportion, or perceiving clearly can be a challenge. We’re all susceptible to anxiety and depression given they are human conditions. But for some people, it doesn’t stop there.

Regardless, no person ever should be made to feel embarrassed, ashamed, or be discriminated against for simply being human.

CRACKED The Podcast is a new multimedia podcast, conceived and co-hosted by author, filmmaker, philanthropist, and mental health advocate Rebecca Schaper and veteran broadcaster, journalist, author, and Talk TV/Radio host, Sandie Sedgbeer, which is simultaneously streamed and broadcast via Internet radio and multiple social media outlets. Its mission is to “slay the dragons of mental health” by stripping away the shame, embarrassment, fear, and stigma associated with mental health, by expanding the conversation into areas less frequently visited.

Myriad things can tip the scales of our emotional, physical, psychological, and mental wellbeing in a positive or a less beneficial direction—from brain and body chemistry, hormones, food, nutrition, trauma, shock, and our microbiome, to pharmaceutical drugs, psychedelic substances, meditation, visionary experiences, and spiritual awakenings

CRACKED The Podcast will bring fresh perspectives to a topic that affects us all. No aspect of mental health from its wide variety of expressions to the multitude of seen and unseen things that can influence it will go unexamined.

CRACKED The Podcast will explore them all. Including the notion that, for many, breakdown can be the beginning of breakthrough. For in the words of poet and philosopher Leonard Cohen: “There is a crack in everything. It’s where the Light gets in.”
