She strives to create awareness and understanding to ensure victims are given the support they need to understand their situation and begin the healing process. Her book <em>Gasping for Air,<\/em> which chronicles her own abusive marriage that lasted nearly three decades, started as a journal that she hid under the couch cushion in the basement.<\/p>\n<p>An inspiring true story filled with strife and revelation, Gasping for Air exposes the raw truth of emotional, psychological, and physical trauma and is a bold testament to survival.
