Rewrite Your Action Script!

Rewrite Your Action Script!

by Marsha Cook

We are each connected by threads unseen, energies that travel and bind the universe. One of these threads is silver. The writing you read here is titled, “Silver Threads.”

It is a simply written message containing alternatives to everyday life choices, to the actions and reactions mankind has been practicing and how a bit of change can create goodness that will ripple like a smooth stone on a still pond.

Rewriting Your Script!

Good judgment comes from Experience. Experience comes from awful judgment.

Understanding the many facets of what plays on our ‘head’ tape is key to rewriting your script. Over the next several issues Silver Threads will present the basic script groups. Get ready to go to Hollywood Y’all!

Rewriting your script is much like dieting. In order for lasting changes to take place, baby steps are needed. Some of the steps discussed in previous issues of Silver Threads have been: Finding and nurturing your Self; Connecting with your Core Beliefs; and Questioning your Thoughts – Am I 100% Sure? Let’s take a moment and look at your script. Has the director (that would be you) given you an action, drama, tragedy or comedy manuscript? Did you know that your behavior is a reflection of your script? And, that behavior is like a credit card? It comes with rewards (perks or bonuses) and payment after payment!

So, what script are you using? An Action script will keep you on the go, running and doing for anyone and everyone. Can you say ‘no’ when asked for a favor? Do you worry that by saying ‘no, you won’t be liked or accepted, or, that people will attach the Selfish label to you? Does your Action script leave little or no time at all for you?

Are you surrounded by problems? Do you bounce from one crisis to another with no time to catch your breath in between? Oh, woe is me, that draft is Drama!

The Tragedy script is filled with fear, pain, loathing, sadness, hopelessness: and, you experience and live them all! The Tragedy is a more intense version of the Drama. It is a very heavy burden to drag around and an extraordinary drain on your life force.

You may think by comparison that the Comedy is light. Have you ever been acquainted with the person who works at not taking anything seriously? Do they make good partners, employers, employees, and friends? The Comedy script often contains threads of bitterness (as in sarcasm) and is frequently no laughing matter!

Ask yourself if your script is serving your best interest. Do your choices honor you? Remember, your behavior reflects your choices, which reflect your thoughts – your script. Do you awful-ize or beautiful-ize the world around you? What reward(s) are you getting? Whatever your screenplay, even those you do not like, you chose, and you are getting something (a pay-off) out of that choice.

If you have chosen Action as your theme, your ‘perk’ is being loved. How could people not adore you when you are always giving? The message you send says you are not worthy of ‘their’ attention otherwise. In other words, that is what is playing on your ‘head’ tape; it is what you are thinking, feeling, projecting. Somewhere along the way, you came to believe you were not precious or valuable. If you would simply let your Core shine through, people would see that you are a warm and wonderful being.

Genuine giving is a gift that leaves time and energy for you as well as the many you provide for; whereas, action giving is a bottomless pit. It does not satisfy the giver or the givee! It does not honor you, and if there is no honor in it for you, there is none for anyone else. You cannot give away that which you do not already own. To confer something of value, one must first know their own worth.

A good Action movie leaves you on the edge of your seat; holding your breath, chewing your fingernails, squeezing the arm of your date! Living that way will saturate your body with adrenaline, cortisol, norepinephrine and other sundry energy consuming hormones that will eventually destroy your health, your will and your spirit. Why not leave the Action script to the Hollywood moguls! When the called upon script pops up as Action ask yourself – “Am I 100% Sure?” before you morph into the ‘007 – Action Zero’ person. Yes – it says Zero not Hero!!

There are often times in life when one must take action to make things happen; creating the path that needs to be travelled. Sometimes not taking action is the best thing; and yet, there are the times when not taking action can generate devastating results. Trust your instincts to know when to do or not do! Being pro-active in designing your environment is quite different than being an action zero. It’s all up to you.

In your script rewrite (not only are you the director, you are the writer too) be sure to include a mantra or two with regard to your value. Start with the thought that you are a precious and unique individual, made of and from love and deserving of receiving said affection and respect.

Give of your Self from a place of genuine grace. As you honor you, the need to be all to everyone will wither and fade and the teleprompter of your life will read, ‘and life was lived happily ever-after.’
