Publishers Note:

Julian LennonThrough the connection between The White Feather Foundation and Humanity Healing International,   OM Times was given the opportunity to share some questions with Julian Lennon and share his answers with our readers.  Our gratitude to Annie Fowler of The White Feather Foundation for facilitating the dialog.

We caught up with Julian as he was working on an upcoming photography exhibition.  Thinking up the interview questions was an interesting balancing act.  Julian Lennon is an incredibly talented, multi-faceted, multi-genre artist AND humanitarian whose Foundation is making a significant difference in the lives of humans and ecosystems around the world.  Having said this, for someone who the first song he remembers ever hearing is I Want To Hold Your Hand and whose all-time favorite musical group is the Beatles, it was hard to not focus on the 800 pound gorilla in the corner:  Julian Lennon is John Lennon’s son.

Says Julian, “Growing up as John Lennon’s son has been a rocky path. He was a great talent, a remarkable man who stood for love and peace in the world, but to me he was the father I loved and longed for in his many absences.”

With that putting it into perspective, here is the rest of the dialogue.

Christopher Buck: The Beatles had a famous trip to India in pursuit of spirituality.  Did this have any impact on your personal spiritual growth?

Julian Lennon: Not really.   I was very young at the time and it seemed that only George, out of all the boys, stuck with it in the end.

CB: Do you have a particular spiritual “modality” that you pursues?

Julian Lennon: You know, I prefer to keep all avenues to wisdom open!

CB: John Lennon was to Rock and Roll what Mozart was to Classical music.  Did this help or hinder your own love of music and your passion to be a musician?

Julian Lennon: Of course I grew up around music in the early days,  so in many ways, it may have been inevitable that music would become such a force in my life.

CB: At Humanity Healing, we like to say that Spiritual Activism is Compassion in Action.  The creation of The White Feather Foundation personifies this and you have my deep respect and Gratitude for your accomplishments with this organization, such as building an orphanage in Sri Lanka with the The Manitha Neyam Trust or making possible, with the Amazon Conservation Team , the survival of the lineage of the Yagé Healers of the Colombian Amazon and the rain forest in which they live.  Was there a particular incident or event that motivated you to found The White Feather Foundation?
