Money in the Bank!
Timeline…
Michael Creighton, famous author and television show creator has written a book called “Timeline.” In it, one of the characters, a brilliant but somewhat arrogant and slightly demented physicist theorizes that it is not time that moves, but mankind. In other words, time is static and you are in motion. Therefore, you can shorten or lengthen time as you see fit. What a great feat of science fiction to ponder!
According to this theory, when you feel as though you are spinning your wheels; when frustration at lack of accomplishment is rearing its ugly head; or, your stress levels are rising due to the constraint of time slipping away too quickly, you have the power to remedy that. And now another building block – the ‘How?’ block. How do you cause time to slow down; what does it take to stretch a minute or an hour? Here’s another question block – is time linear?
Thinking of time as linear may be akin to the thinking of the past when mankind thought the earth was flat. If you walked in a straight line far enough, you would come to the end and fall off the earth. Science and explorers proved that the world is round and one could keep going in circles if one chose. What if time is actually like that? Might the space of time be like a balloon that would expand and stretch as little bits were added to it? Imagine the possibilities!
There are 24 hours in a day, and so far, it has yet to be proven otherwise. With this fact, the next building block would register the question, ‘how do we make every moment count?’ Why not pause here to examine your day carefully; are there frittered away moments floating about in your hectic and consuming rituals?
If these moments were recognized and excised, how would that alter your day and the need for more time? Would it allow you to create moments of peace and appreciation, or, would you simply fill the slot with more busy-ness? And, which of the two choices would contribute the most to your health and well-being? Only you can answer that.
New Ideas, Bright Ideas…
The idea is to be cognizant of the gift of time you already have; to be aware of the bank account you are presented with each day and make the most of all of your blessings. No one other than yourself has the expertise or responsibility to govern your time with the precision and love needed to earn the most interest on this bank account provided for you; an account that can also be titled life.
Make the best of what to do with the time you have been given by choosing with just the right blend of heart and mind and by being open to all the wonders and joys laid out before you. And if I discover the gift of expanding time, I promise to share the joy!
