Year in Review – Toronto Pictures
In addition, he wrote, directed, produced, executive produced and edited other feature films, TV shows and documentaries widely screened in cinemas and broadcast throughout Italy and other European countries to date. Bruno is also the Founder and Chairman of the Toronto Pictures Film Academy of Ghana.
OM-Times: Bruno, please share with us more about Daria Trifu and how she became involved with your Company.
Bruno Pischiutta: Daria was born in Brasov, Romania in 1981 and she began her film career in the year 2000, few months after moving to Canada. She is a graduate of my exclusive Film Acting Course in Toronto.
Daria has studied Fine Arts since grade 5 in Europe and she graduated in 2000 with honors from the Central Technical School – Fine Arts Program in Canada. In Romania, she held private exhibitions of her paintings ever since the early age of 15 and her artwork was commissioned by prestige hotels in the mountain resort of Poiana Brasov. In her youth, Daria, a prodigy child, excelled in sports such as tennis and ski when she won numerous competitions; she traveled the world both with her family and on her own with a National Choir attending International Festivals.
Today, she oversees the organization of Toronto Pictures’ attendance to all major film markets such as The American Film Market, Cannes, Montreal, etc. and in 2003 she was a speaker on the “Peacefulfish & Variety Presents Global Film Finance” panel in Cannes.
Daria is the Assistant Director of the feature film MAYBE (2003); Producer & Executive Producer of the documentary BRUNO PISCHIUTTA: FILM DIRECTOR (2009) and Producer & Executive Producer of the feature films PUNCTURED HOPE and A PARTY GIRL FOR THE RAT PACK (2010).
She will make her acting debut in the leading female role in the feature film WISTERIA that will be shot in Romania this year. Daria Trifu is the Founder, President and C.E.O. of Adhara Properties and Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of “Daria!” Magazine. She is also a Founding Member and President of the Toronto Pictures Film Academy of Ghana.
I believe that Daria is an excellent role model for the current generation of Romanian girls. She is one of the youngest and most powerful film executives in the world. OM-Times: A film is always the result of team work. The ‘team’, however, may be assembled for various purposes. Can you tell us more about the moviemaking process?
Bruno Pischiutta: Most movie ideas originate from a best seller, a particular historical character or event. They are green-lighted in the boardrooms of studios or in the offices of executive producers. The executive producer is the uncontested administrative ‘leader’ of the project. He or she is the one who chooses the producer, the director, the stars, the casting agency and all the other important team members. Over the course of the filmmaking process, sometimes the film benefits from the input contributed by everyone involved, however, it sometimes also faces the consequences resulting from the team members’ different dispositions and egos. In certain cases the “leader” of the filmmaking process is also the film star, the director and also the producer.
