Sharanagati

A true sharanagata is one who remembers God when all is well, when everything is going good and the weather is fair, as well as when things are not going so good. It is good to say in your heart a kind of confirmation or affirmation, that ‘I am sharanagata’. It has its own melody, its own music of surrender and love.

This level of surrender is very difficult for a rational mind. As such the rational mind is very egotistical. It doesn’t want to bow down. In sharanagati, one has to surrender, which no ego is comfortable with. For the surrender to happen in the heart of the devotee or sharanagata, the ego needs to be sublimated. Ego never wants to surrender. But through constant practice and self giving, as the surrender deepens, ego melts. Surrender and ego cannot stay together. They are like light and shadow.

Learning the lessons of sharanagati in the right spirit is a great spiritual lesson to learn in life. All of us need to be aware that sharanagati is the simple and humble path of all paths. Whichever path one takes for self-realization ultimately the seeker has to open the heart and completely surrender to the Higher Self to be illumined and to be enlightened.

Sharanagati is the pinnacle of Divine love in manifestation.

Sharanagati is the ultimate form of worship of the Divine.

Sharanagati removes the barrier between the devotee and the Lord.
