Kingdom of Swaziland Certified Educational Institution to Establish Film Academy in Partnership with North American Producers of Socio-political Films

The Kingdom of Swaziland Film Academy aims at becoming a principal educational center fostering the art of cinematography in Africa.

MANZINI, SWAZILAND — Kwasa International Development and Consulting Center (KIDCC) of Swaziland today announced its partnership with Film Director Bruno Pischiutta and Producer Daria Trifu of Toronto Pictures and Adhara Properties respectively.

The principal ground of the partnership entails the creation and establishment of a film academy, the Kingdom of Swaziland Film Academy, with headquarters in Manzini. Furthermore, in Swaziland, Pischiutta and Trifu will be producing a motion picture based on the devastating phenomenon of HIV/AIDS in Southern Africa.

KIDCC Managing Director, Violet Nkambule, states that “Media has power to influence, control and direct a situation no matter how. We are happy to have finally concluded this important partnership. We believe that KIDCC Media Production’s partnership with Adhara Properties and Toronto Pictures of Canada will have a great impact on the realization of an HIV-Free Generation. The Academy, being the first of its kind in the country, will empower our generation with much needed professional skills of international standards in the film industry.”

The Academy will be Pischiutta and Trifu’s second such institution established in their long-held plan to create a global diaspora of film schools designed to engender professional cinematography.

The Kingdom of Swaziland Film Academy is scheduled to commence its activity in spring 2011 and the motion picture will begin production in summer 2011.

Media Coordinator of KIDCC, Abejide M. Oluwole had this to say “Bruno and Daria’s previous achievements and the world recognition they received to date is giving us high hope that their forthcoming feature film production here in Swaziland, will be a great success.”

The motion picture will have a mixed cast of local and international actors. Hollywood movies stars will be cast to play in the lead roles. In the past, great films, such as PHILADELPHIA, have been produced about the effects of HIV/AIDS. The peculiarity of this film is that, for the first time, a motion picture will showcase the reality of HIV/AIDS in Africa. In particular to be noted is the fact that Swaziland has the highest pro-capita percentage of people infected with the virus in the world.

The picture will be written and directed by Pischiutta, produced by Trifu and it will be an Adhara Properties production.

Known for producing main stream feature films on social and, sometimes, controversial issues of our time, Pischiutta and Trifu are now in production with a feature film entitled ABUSED IN AMERICA, which deals with the child abuse phenomenon in the United States. The film is about to start principal photography in Europe.
