My Sound Healing Journey
Most people go very deeply into a relaxed state when I play the bowls – pretty much “trancing out”. I call it a “lie-down concert”. The most difficult thing is getting them to come back to waking consciousness when I’m done. I often tell everyone to bring a blanket and pillow and get really cozy, because they may be there for a while. So I finally have found my instrument. I just didn’t go to music school to learn how to play it. Does this count? Well, it does for me. I know that when I’m playing my bowls for people, I’m doing exactly what I need to be doing in that moment. I recommend sound healing to anyone who feels called to explore it. If tones begin coming through you spontaneously, let them come. Explore them for what they are. You may find yourself becoming a “sound healer” some day. Or you may be content to let the sounds heal you. Either way, you’re doing what you need to do. Sound can be a great healer.
