Do You REALLY Need to De-Clutter?

Spring cleaning by following Feng Shui principles lets you align your space with your goals and hold on to the things you love and need.
Welcome to April. What does this month, the first full month of spring, represent to you? For many people, regardless of religious faith, this month is a time of rebirth and renewal. Part of that process may include giving your home or apartment a good spring cleaning, and maybe even a re-design based on ancient, little-known Feng Shui Secrets.
As you embark on this spring cleaning journey, whether you’re planning major renovations or just freshening of the existing space, it’s important to be “in the moment.” Remain “In Spirit” While Cleaning
Many of the repetitive tasks associated with cleaning are almost meditative in nature. They provide a great opportunity to practice being fully present. Concentrate on the task you’re performing, even if it doesn’t seem to need your full concentration.
Feel the surface of the glass as you wash mirrors, focusing on the goal of cleaning and purifying. Take note of the different characteristics of every object you dust. Your mind may start to wander to the memories these objects evoke. That’s okay. It means these objects are special to you and tell stories about your life. Listen to those stories.
On the other hand, now is also a good time to trust your intuition and get rid of any objects in your home that don’t serve a purpose or make you feel happy. Listen to your inner voice. Do you resent dusting that crystal bowl you received as a wedding gift from a relative you only see once a year because you’ve always hated the bowl? Consider giving it a way, selling it or donating it to a thrift store. Only surround yourselves with objects you love.
Wayne Dyer describes inspiration as being “in spirit.” It’s often during moments of mundane activities that don’t require much thought, when we are completely engaged in the moment, which great inspiration strikes. That’s because we are quieting our minds with these seemingly unthinking tasks, and we can better listen to our inner voice and intuition, which will guide us to our true life purpose. We may find the solution to a pressing problem, or even discover our greatest passion, which can lead us to a life of health, wealth and happiness.
If your mind begins to wander to something more “exciting” bring it back by engaging all your senses in the activity. You can also return to the present moment by concentrating on your breathing and focusing exclusively on in and out breaths, filling your lungs with air and life-affirming chi, until you are back in the present moment.
