“wherever you go”
By Lois Cheney
“Wherever you go, there you are.”
Yes it is true to some degree. Whether you are moving to or away from, you absolutely do carry your “self,” your life path focus and goals, with you. Happy or unhappy, open minded or closed, peaceful or warring, giving or taking, your “self” is virtually unchanging unless you make the considerable effort to institute measurable change.
“Running away” may not solve anything but it might also be important to consider that different locations, different groups of people tend to bring out varied aspects of the “self”, either better or worse. Perhaps “running to” might create positive change.
Think about this: Do you feel or speak in the same way with a small group of peaceful spiritually advanced people as you do with two or three antagonistic, hostile folks?
I realize that presents an extreme comparison but when you consider that like attracts like, could it be that those of a certain mindset might gather together for mutual support and comfort whether they are aware of it or not?
If you found yourself surrounded by people whose values were completely opposite of yours, so completely opposite that they made you uncomfortable, would you physically step away from them?
Going even further, what if those of any similar beliefs and actions also preferred a particular geographic area? If that might be true, then would one physical housing location be more amenable to you than another?
