May Flowers for Feng Shui

Taller trees should be planted toward the back of the garden to provide a sense of protection without overpowering smaller plants. Make sure they are not putting plants and flowers that need a lot of sun in complete shade for most of the day, either.

Other Elements In Your Feng Shui Garden

A beautiful and effective Feng Shui garden doesn’t end with the foliage. You can  use rocks and boulders to add balance and beauty to a garden. Larger rocks can also add stability to your life when placed in specific trigrams of the Ba Gua, like the relationship or career section. (Be careful of placing a boulder in the career trigram, though, as it should not block the entryway to the garden or cause people to trip over it, creating a hazard and concern).

You can also add a water element or garden lights, again, to empower a specific section of the Ba Gua or to add balance and harmony to the space.

If you add a pond to your garden, take care when deciding where to place it. The best place for a water element is the wealth corner, but it can also be used to empower the career trigram near the entrance to the garden.

When you place your pond, it should be the right size (not too big, not too small) relative to the rest of the garden and to your home. Do not place it too close to your home, or the moisture may have adverse effects on the chi and the living environment in your home. It should not be too far away, either, or you won’t experience the positive effects of a Feng Shui pond on your property.

The best shape for a pond is kidney shaped, to avoid sharp lines and killing chi. Take care to maintain the pond for health reasons and to get maximum benefits from the Feng Shui water element. A pond should be outfitted with a waterfall or filter to keep the water moving; stagnant water creates bad chi.

Finally, you may consider stocking your pond with Koi or gold fish in different colors for even more good luck and to attract wealth.
