Déa Viola – Meet the Mom Entrepreneur
Déa Viola, CEO of Baby Flamingo Company
Born and raised in Salvador, Brazil, Déa Viola is a professionally trained singer, dancer and choreographer with a background in musical theater, ballroom dancing, ballet, jazz and modern techniques. She moved to the US from Brazil in 1985 when she was awarded scholarships with The Joffrey Ballet School and The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. Déa’s credits include a stand-in tango scene in the Al Pacino movie “Scent of a Woman”, as well as many years performing in NYC. She has performed with the Michael Mao Dance Company, her own Brazilian band Tropicats, The WonderCamp Playhouse, and The Luiz Simas Band and on many studio recordings.
With a background in Arts, Déa Viola has always been a very creative person. She started sewing at the age of 12, with the help of her live-in nanny, Olga, and since having children she has been making many children’s accessories, most for her own use. Many of her parent invented ideas were created because of a need to facilitate her own busy life as a mom. Her unique creativity adds a special flair to her work, making The Baby Flamingo Co. unique in its style. Its products are ideal for first time parents, or for anyone who is looking to buy a unique baby/parent gift for someone special.
Déa Viola, aside from being a stay-home-mom which she loves to do, is currently a part-time music teacher for children in several pre-schools in her area, as well as the female vocalist of a local Classic and County Rock Band named CRANETOWN. www.cranetownband.net
