What’s it like to be An Animal Communicator?
by Terrie Douglas, Animal Communicator
Think of an emotion – any emotion. That’s what it is like to be an Animal Communicator.
Welcome to my world. I experience every possible emotion while speaking with animals. Communicating with them is rewarding for me because they need a voice to have their humans understand; sometimes to understand them, or sometimes to understand an issue or situation. But it is also sad at times, understanding their pain, their suffering, and their loss. There is a general description of what it’s like to be an Animal Communicator.
I am a strong empath so I experience many emotions and feel things during a talk with an animal. If I am asked to contact a dearly loved friend that has recently passed, it is doubly emotional for me. I pick up the grief of loss from both sides as I make the connection. That’s the only downside to being an empath, and to having a deep love for all animals. This is for me one of the most challenging areas, and I love doing this work the best, I think. We all go through grief in our own way; I hope to help ease that time.
Ok, all that is fine, but what you really want to know is, what is it really like to speak with an animal? In short it’s enlightening and always a very special experience. Educational too, of course, I always learn something, and hopefully their humans learn as well.
It is like chatting with a friend or a newly met someone. It’s really no different than picking up the phone. Whether you answer or place the call, it’s about the same; as you speak with your friends over the phone, you experience emotions, you are happy with them, sad, etc.
Come with me for a short journey and you can experience it yourself.
Sally phoned because her horse, Diablo, is acting strange; he is not exactly lame, but something is not quite right and she can’t quite put her finger on what it is, would I ask him about it?
I sit quietly and ask her horse to come and talk with me. As I ‘feel’ him on the outside of my perception, I introduce myself, “Hi Diablo, my name is Terrie, I am here with Sally, and she is very concerned about you, so has asked me to speak with you. Would you please come and speak with me?” I wait for his response to my request. I ‘feel’ a positive response as in my mind; I now make out a horse shaped figure approaching, getting closer and clearer in my vision, and then hear him say, “Yes, of course I will join you, what would you like to know?”
And our conversation begins…. “Sally is very concerned over your odd behavior lately; she feels you are not quite yourself. Do you understand this? Is there something you are willing to share (please) with her so she can help, possibly, make it better?”
At this point my focus is drawn to his left hind leg; it looks to me like it has a bright light shining on it.
[DIABLO:] “Yes, I understand. I am not exactly sure if she can help or not, but this is what happened. A while ago when we were out on our ride through the hills I took a misstep. My left hind leg has been a little sore, especially after I have been grazing in one spot for a long while; it’s just a little tender when I start to move. Could this be what she is referring to?”As I relay this to Sally, she indicates that yes, this makes perfect sense. It does seem to be his left hind more and just a little soreness. She wants to know if there is anything else; if that is all; what can she do to help him be more comfortable. So, I ask him.
[DIABLO:] “Well to begin with let me just rest for a few more days to give this some time to heal more. I should be fine in a week. And extra treats would be nice too!”As I relay this to Sally she laughs, “Yes, that’s Old Diablo alright, anything for carrots! And anything to get out of work (she laughs). Tell him he can be a pasture bum for another week.” Then she thinks of something else, “How will I know he is all healed? I don’t want to hurt him further and he may not be fine in a week.”
There is always a way for a horse to let us know what we want to know. I ask Diablo.
[DIABLO:] “When I feel able to take her out and not have it hurt, I will be waiting for her at the gate when she arrives at her usual time. Ask her if that will be enough.”I relay what he has said. Sally is astounded by his answer, as it seems ‘Old Diablo’ has never met her at the gate before. A sure sign it would be, but she is a bit skeptical that this will really happen.
I ask Sally if there is anything else she would like to know at this time. “No, nothing for now. Thank you Diablo, I love you, old horse.”
As I pass this to Diablo, I ask him if there is anything else he wishes to share with Sally at this time. “Yes”, he says, “there is one more thing, please. Ask her to please stop calling me ‘old horse’; I am really not that old you know, I am still very young!” (It is accompanied by a feeling of great mirth.)
I giggle and pass that on to Sally. “Well that explains it! I always thought he gave me a pained look when I call him that always thought it was just my imagination. OK, Diablo, from now on, you are just Diablo, my buddy.”
[DIABLO:] “I like that MUCH better, thank you.”Our conversation is finished, I say to Diablo, “Thank you for speaking with me today.” Then I just ‘feel’ him leave….
Sally tells me she doubts he will meet her at the gate. I ask her to phone me to let me know, she promises to do that. Six days go by; Sally phones. She is talking very excitedly, “Diablo WAS at the gate today when I arrived, and he whinnied to me as I walked up to him! Wow, you know, he has never done that before. I am SO glad I phoned you, so glad. Thank you for your help, this has opened a new door for us and I am very grateful. We had a great ride today; he was perfect and not sore anywhere at all. And when I gave him his extra carrots today, he looked very pleased.” (She giggles)
This is a little of what it’s like to be an Animal Communicator. I hope you’ve enjoyed taking this little journey with me.
