THE REBORN

Being born is like shedding a skin –
painful in a deep-soul kind of way
not really physical, but all-encompassing
where each breath you take
goes to the very roots of your being.

It’s been said by many –
we are born, we live, we die,
and that’s all.

Something happens, though –
between birth and dying
hardship, anguish, soul-shaking calamity
ease, security, utter happiness
where many get stuck, and many become lost.

But for those who have eyes to see –
and hearts to feel
out of those circumstances
we are reborn
into light, joy, peace.

And if we go just one step further –
following our destiny
wherever it may lead us
we are reborn into Love.

Not the superficial, surface kind –
but the deep-soul, all-encompassing kind
that feels like it’s going to
explode out of your chest
to illuminate the whole of the Universe.
