Choosing the Best Career Path for You

The progress of our soul is like a perfect poem. It has an infinite idea which once realized makes all movements full of meaning and joy. But if we detach its movements from that ultimate idea, if we do not see the infinite rest and only see the infinite motion, then existence appears to us a monstrous evil, impetuously rushing towards an unending aimlessness.~ Rabindranath Tagore

We all cherish the idea of “onward and upward,” directing ourselves to achieve more tomorrow than we did today. This month, I’d like to offer you some really cool ideas to help you in your forward progress of the best career path for you.

Don’t Shortchange Your Own Capabilities

Your success (or your failure) does not depend on where you were born, how much money you have, what kind of car you drive, or what sort of clothing you wear. It IS about honestly assessing where you are right now with all your strengths and weaknesses, and in not settling for too little in the face of who you are. You are generally capable of much more than you think you can do. Are you one of the people who are “settling for less” in your career choice? Here are some tips to jump on a faster track.

Choose Your Job Carefully

It has been said that one of the keys to success is to choose your parents carefully, as if you could! It’s a bit late to alter that decision or choice, but you can decide something more important – choose your job or career carefully. This decision – to choose the best career path for you – is more important than anything else. You will not experience success if you do work that you don’t enjoy or that you don’t believe in. Success and happiness hinge on this decision.

Be the Best At What You Do

Our next point is a logical sequence to selecting your career carefully. If you want to become stellar in your career, you have to achieve excellent skills or knowledge. Are you willing to pay any price, to go any distance required, to spend any amount of time necessary to be at the top of your field? Superb rewards are only rewarded for superb performance. If you receive average rewards, you’re doing an average job. If your reward is below minimum …You get the picture. You are being paid today precisely what you’re worth – no more, no less. To earn more, you have to find ways that will increase your worth to others.

What’s Your Motivation

The real reason you honestly appraise your skills, why you select the best career path and why you sharpen your skills and do what you love is because unless you truly love your work, you will never be motivated to persist at it until you become excellent. Persistence, perseverance, and long-suffering are requisite to become excellent at what you’re doing. Without excellence, you can’t enjoy that forward progress.

Peak Performance is Such a Joy!

If you want to enjoy peak performance, you have to unfold courage, character and self-esteem. You have to face your fears and learn to move forward with courage. When you exercise courage, you elevate your regard for yourself so that fears take a back seat and lose their ability to affect our success.
