The Experience of Forgiveness

By Tony Samara

It’s very difficult to forgive if what created this space where there is no forgiveness, is still there.  Einstein said that we can’t solve a problem on the level on which it was created in the first place, that we have to go beyond it.  Energetically this means that we have to move to a higher dimension.  Practically it means that we have to change within ourselves the cause of any problem, which is usually a contraction of your heart.

If you’re upset, unhappy, lacking in love or lacking in compassion, the tendency is to contract and to come back into the ego or selfish aspect of who you are. This space of contraction is actually moving away from our human heart, our deepest divine aspect. Focusing on an issue, problem, or process, doesn’t actually in the end, resolve anything.  Nothing is resolved through being attached to the negative aspects of the space that we have created in that moment – the space where there is no forgiveness.  From that space, it’s very difficult to see the big picture.

One major human trait is to focus on negativity.  It is so easy for that negativity, whether it be emotional, physical, mental, or energetic, to draw us into itself and into the energy or circle which I call karma. It can be difficult to find a space free from the karma of that negative moment, so that we can transcend and move beyond the mundane.

When we let go, rather than contracting into this space which sucks the energy of our creativity, of our sense of well being, we can expand into a space where the opposite happens, a space where we can laugh in joy or in happiness. When we let go of judgment and simply relax, our bodies become much more expansive!

Expansion is an experience. Feel what it’s like to expand. Feel what it’s like to expand into that space where the anger, the frustration, the irritation, now has a space to be honoured. So instead of contracting, you expand. You can only expand when you relax, when you breathe in, when you are detached from the mundane, and totally embracing the expansion.

Expansion is something that we all know, it’s other name is love. Love is expansion, and whether you feel it or not, we are all love. Whether in that moment you experience it or not, we are love. We don’t have to pretend to be love, we just have to get back to that space that is expanding into love.

This means taking action and putting spirituality into practice, and you can only take action when you’ve let go of what is contracting you. This is forgiveness. It is difficult to put spirituality into practice when negativity comes up. It’s easy to have an idea, a philosophy, a practice, but to actually put this into everyday, mundane aspects of living takes discipline. What you have to do is to go higher into a space of expansion, of lightness, and to communicate that sense of lightness. This is important because the more light there is in the body, the more love there is to forgive.

It takes time to let go and expand into love and it takes time for love to fill up spaces. It takes time and so it requires patience, but understand that slowly with this trust and patience, the world supports you. Because love is not individual. Love is everywhere.

In every breath that you take, in every tree, in every molecule of light that reflects back from the mundane world, there is a space of Love.

It takes time for you, meaning your mind, your emotions, your body, to acknowledge that space.

It takes time to feel comfortable enough to be open to that space.

You become the center of expanding light.

You become the light.

It’s a moment of clarity, a moment of wisdom, a moment where your heart, emotions, and mind, understand a space that goes beyond what it is to be in the mundane.

It is in that space, that the reference point is totally different.

In that space, you don’t judge because it’s so beautiful.

In that space it is easy to forgive.
