So I went back the drawing board and changed my perspective. I knew this story had to be told and I refused to give up, despite all of the rejection. This birthed the idea of a fictional line of books, The Magdalene Series which could be told from this perspective even more completely, because no one could tell me what I could or couldn’t say. It actually gave me more freedom to tell the complete story.  No one could say to me (actual quote from a publisher) “you’re non-fiction is just feminist rage.” Or “you look like a feminist with an axe to grind.” But also, by changing this to fiction, I could engage our hearts and our emotions with the story. Readers would be able to have the complete experience of the unveiling truth of Mary Magdalene and her journey to France, and what she taught to the people of the region.

OM Times: Along with being an author, you are also co-host of The Spirit Revolution, a radio show you have with your husband Philip Coopens.  Tell us more about that project.

We were tired of the apocalyptic overload that is being thrust upon the world in regards to 2012, and wanted to be a positive force for counter-balancing that fear: fear of destruction, fear of the “end of the world”.  Fear rules, and it can rule absolutely if you feed it with ignorance.  Our mission is to prove that 2012 represents The Beginning of the World, and feed that notion of positive change and hope with wisdom and enlightenment.  Each week we feature guests with similar and harmonious missions to make the world a more beautiful, joyous and abundant place for all.  We will recommend tools to help everyone on their path to a personal and global Spirit Revolution.
