Your Most Powerful Beauty Ally: 5 Tips To Letting It Go!
by Akua Auset
Picture this…
…lackluster, thinning hair, forehead wrinkles, dark under-eye circles, dull, troubled skin, bad breath, a stomach pooch, lethargy, difficulty concentrating, mostly irritable and impatient.
Is this your ultimate vision of yourself?…or the man or woman of your dreams?
As someone who’s chased love and beauty for most of her life, I know that feeling and experiencing beauty can make one feel magnetic, connected, inspired, weight-less, and like anything is possible. It’s a “highful” joy that swings the door of our hearts wide open. Yes, beauty is powerful that way.
Beauty’s Unicorn
As I mentioned in last months article (Are Your Beauty Products Making You Sick & Ugly?), we spend a great deal of money as well as time and energy on creams, serums, protocols, procedures, gifts and gadgets. We invest with the hopes of solving problems and experiencing the lightness that comes from being at our best; often going in circles with little, short or long-term benefit. Could it be that we are on an endless search for the mythical beauty unicorn? I’m happy to say that just as the rhinoceros exists, the beauty unicorn exists as well. It’s just time to look in another place for it.
Ooohhh That Smell
Can you imagine the experience of walking into your kitchen right now if you hadn’t taken out the garbage for a week? A month? A year? Twenty years? Not only would the stench be unfathomable but also a dangerous health hazard.
Would you feel comfortable flying across the country in a plane that’s exceeded the maximum limit of baggage for safety? Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
While we consume what we require to stay vital, we must also release and let go of what we don’t need; on EVERY level. From unproductive and destructive mindsets, to the habits that elude our highest vision of ourselves, and to the clutter in our homes, it’s always the perfect time to simplify, cleanse, and release what is no longer useful to us.
Detox for Beauty
Have you ever noticed after being ill for a few days, when you’ve slept, eaten very little and consumed a large amount of liquids that you return to health with your skin being just a bit more radiant, your eyes just a bit more bright, feeling clear and energetic. I realized the power of this natural detox. Except in extraordinary cases, the human body when left alone, has a miraculous ability to self-heal and balance.
What Goes In Must Come Out
Detoxifying your body, mind and life is a beauty ally that pays awesome (in the truest sense of the word) and eternal rewards. Utilize what nourishes you, then release and let go of what is unproductive. Holding on to waste becomes toxic and degenerating to your spirit and body temple.
The perfect model of this process is what we do every moment of the day in creating energy by breathing. We inhale oxygen (nutrition), and we exhale carbon dioxide (refuse) from our lungs. This happens naturally without a thought. As long as we are alive, we are perpetually consuming and detoxing.
Italian renaissance sculptor Michaelangelo created masterpieces by chipping away at what wasn’t the masterpiece. He said, “I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.” Ms. Erykah Badu eloquently sings about it in one of my favorite songs (Bag Lady) …”Let it go, let it go, let it go.”
5 Tips To Letting It Go!
Ready to get started utilizing your most powerful beauty ally? It’s time to “let it go!” Here are five tips for five areas of your life that can immediately ADD to your beauty through subtraction.
# 1 Mental detox: Our life, relationships and body are all a reflection of what is created in our minds. Regularly get quiet and observe your mental process and dialogue. Is there anything that can be released, let go of, or cleaned up that no longer serves your highest vision of yourself?
# 2 Verbal detox:
While our mind creates our lives, our words are the clues to that inner world. The words we choose to speak tell everything about how we perceive ourselves and the world. Don’t be hung by your tongue, your mouth is your magic wand. Let go of any talk about your life, relationships and body that is not what you desire.
# 3 Home detox: Is there anything in your home, office, car, that can be cleaned, streamlined, or re-purposed to someone or recycled that no longer serves you? What’s in your beauty bag and medicine cabinet? BONUS: Here are: 3 Steps To A Safe Beauty Bag!
# 4 Body detox: a. Perform a daily fast and detox by eating your last meal of the day before sunset and fasting until the next morning at “break” fast. b. Begin your day with fresh water and fruit.
Have you ever performed a detox of every organ system? colon, liver, kidneys, heart, blood, etc.?
# 5 Dietary detox: Does your eating lifestyle need some cleaning up or slight adjustments? Switching out certain foods with healthier options? e.g. table salt for sea or Himalayan salt.
Flow & Soar!
The most ancient Egyptians had it right knowing that blockages in the flow of the Nile could eventually mean a blockage in the prosperity of community. Flow is synonymous with prosperity. How can we flow, soar and travel at the speed of light in our lives if we’re weighed down by excess baggage?
At every moment we have an opportunity to carve, chip away, release, and let go of what doesn’t contribute to our organic beauty. We are born angels, with open hearts, whole, perfect and complete. Let it go, let it go, let it go beauty to reveal your ultimate masterpiece.
