Dear Whitedove,

It seems the further along the spiritual path I get, the more long standing friends leave my life.  It’s confusing to me, although I understand my path is not necessarily their path.  Sometimes it can be lonely, but I am no longer happy with their way of life; I would not want to go back to it.  Does this happen to everyone and how do I handle it?  ~Lonely in Boca

Dear Lonely,

As you move along your spiritual path, you learn and grow.  This means outgrowing belief systems that no longer serve you. You my friend are going through a spiritual evolution.  Likewise the World is in a quickening phase; on a subconscious level, humankind is working on their karmic lessons.  You will find that people are coming in and out of your life like a revolving door.  It’s not just you.  My advice is to honor those old friends, bless them and move on.  What about the new people that you are attracting?  Look into their eyes and be present during your interactions.  Ask yourself: “What am I to learn?  What lessons am I teaching?”  Without judgment you can be at peace with your evolving relationships.

When we are feeling lonely, this is a call to action.  To remove the focus from “Self,” just jump in and help another.  Get involved, from random acts of kindness to devoting yourself to a cause.  This involvement will also become a catalyst for other doors to open.  This is a universal truth for all.

Dear Michelle,

I have lived such a privileged life but it all seems so superficial. I know that I need to get out of this rut but I feel stuck. Any words of advice?

Prosperous in the Philippines

Dear Prosperous,

You have been blessed in this life!  To never be concerned about finances is something that you take for granted, even when poverty is widespread in your country and throughout the world. First – it is important for your spiritual growth to come from a place of gratitude. Look around you and count your many blessings.  Prayerful gratitude on a daily basis will help you to be more vibrant, creative and rejuvenate your soul.
