Herbs for Women’s Health
By Channa Serenity
A woman’s body is the temple to the source of pleasure, fertility, strength, and miracles. All women are Queen’s; beautiful, powerful and strong. Vibrant female health is holistic in nature; mind, body, and soul – all 3 levels are inter-related and equally important and is achieved by listening to our inner guidance. Our lives are meant to be full of hope, joy, and pleasure. Sometimes, however, if we don’t pay attention to our inner guidance, bodily symptoms and illness present themselves as a reminder to pay attention to what is devoid in our lives, and what is keeping us from living the life we are divinely meant to live – the life of our highest purpose and the highest purpose of the collective consciousness.
The mind and the body are intimately linked. There is no dis-ease that exists individually on the physical plane. The soul and the mind must be in alignment with our higher mental self in order for the body to be in prosperous health. Our subconscious mind holds all of our experiences from birth on. Not all of these experiences are pleasant ones. These unpleasant memories create blockages within our chakras. If these aren’t taken care of, they can create illnesses within our bodies. The female reproductive system is associated with the lower 3 chakra energy centers; the root chakra, the sacral chakra, and the solar plexus chakra and pertain to matters of survival/stability, emotions/pleasure and energy/power respectfully.
It’s important to become increasingly self-aware through the recognition of the ways that you think, feel, and react to situations and events in your life. This will facilitate and empower you to make changes that will bring about greater mental, emotional and physical health.
While we look within ourselves for new insights for ways to live our lives authentically and in optimal happiness which leads to strengthening our mind and soul, our physical bodies can use a little help from Mother Nature with these herbs for common women’s health issues to ease some common maladies of the female reproductive system.
Remember to always love your body temple and that these experiences are an opportunity to learn and grow. In healing, the answer we seek can often be found in the metaphor.
Here are some common female reproductive issues and herbal remedies:
Herbs for Women’s Health – Primary Dysmenorrhea: Painful menstruation not associated with pelvic lesions.
Equal parts of: Black Haw, Black Cohosh, Skullcap.
5 ml of tincture taken as needed.
Herbs for Women’s Health – Pre Menstrual Stress (PMS): A condition characterized by nervousness, irritability, emotional instability, depression, headaches, and edema. PMS occurs during the 7-10 days menstruation, occurs and disappears a few hours after the period begins.
Skullcap-2 parts Valerian-1 part Dandelion-1 part
5 ml of tincture taken as needed to alleviate symptoms.
Vitex-2 parts Black Cohosh- 1 part
5 ml tincture once daily throughout the cycle.
Herbs for Women’s Health – Menopause: I prefer to call this “Climataris”; it has a much more positive ring to it and is the permanent cessation of the menstrual activity. This is due to a decrease in ovarian function. Symptoms include hot flashes, insomnia, fatigue, depression, hypertension, genitourinary, atherosclerosis and osteoporosis.
Vitex-2 parts St.John’s Wort- 1 part Liferoot- 1 part
5 ml of tincture 3 times a day.
Herbs for Women’s Health – Morning sickness: nausea, vomiting occurring in about 50% of pregnancies. This will usually diminish around the fourth month of pregnancy.
Equal parts of: Ginger, Wild Yam, Black Horehound
2.5 ml of tincture before bed and after arising. Increase to 5 ml if needed.
Equal parts of: Peppermint, Chamomile
Make an infusion (tea) of the dried herbs and drink as needed.
Allow mother nature and the Goddess Gaia to soothe you from the inside out so that you may empower your inner Goodness and shine. Women are the bearers of strength and miracles. Remember your true Divine wisdom and glorious power!
