Maintaining Wellness in the Workplace with Sound-based Therapy

By Dorinne S. Davis

Stress, long work hours, anxiety, deadlines, poor eating habits, difficulty sleeping, too much time on the computer or phone, problems with your personal life all lead up to an unhealthy lifestyle that can diminish your ability to stay healthy and well, and as a result impact your job performance.  With the current recession, it is even more important to maintain your ability to do a good job and stay well in order to keep your job.  The Davis Model of Sound Intervention? may provide a solution by introducing vibrational sound patterns established individually for your needs so that you are more energized, more focused, able to listen with more clarity, and feeling better about yourself.

While CD’s for motivation, relaxation and more have been on the market for awhile, The Davis Model of Sound Intervention? incorporates the use of sound’s vibrational energy with specific programs and modified music or tones to make individual change for each person.  Each person takes a quick test that determines the correct sound listening protocol.  Then for about one hour per day, the person listens to their specific programs for approximately two to three months.  After that time, the person can do more listening if needed, but many only need this short period to make change that can last a lifetime.  More in-depth therapy is also available, but the average adult functions better overall with this minimal program.

This approach has helped people of all ages and all issues but consider the person with ADHD.  The number one change that people with that diagnosis all report is improved attention.  Clients report being better able to stay on task and focus for longer periods of time.  For the person with depression, by repatterning how their body processes sound, the reported change is typically that they feel happier and are more functional.  Individuals with sleep issues often report an improvement in their ability to fall asleep and their ability to sleep more deeply.  Change can occur for any person simply by repatterning the vibrational energy of their body.

We are all energetic beings and our energy may take a diverted pathway creating imbalances that are demonstrated as symptoms such as anxiety, sleeplessness. More.  Sound-based therapies address these core imbalanced issues. We often are unaware of what these core issues are.  We may only be aware of the resulting symptom(s).  Our mind adjusts to the issues but we continue to have lasting memories of the imbalances that then go directly to our cellular level.  It is important to repattern how those cellular memories affect our everyday life. In the future, a simpler format will be available for adults to use to improve their overall functioning on a daily basis.  In the meantime, The Davis Model of Sound Intervention? can begin to make change for individuals with these steps:

  1. Take the initial test either at The Davis Center in NJ or at an outreach testing location (Dallas, Chicago, LA, Manhattan) and begin a personalized sound listening program to utilize at home.
  2. Use the technique of Ototoning, introduced recently in The Cycle of Sound: A Missing Energetic Link by Dorinne Davis[1].
  3. Use activities that balance your sensory systems such as:
  • When stressed, go into a quiet space and ‘listen’ for a sound within your head (this is called a spontaneous otoacoustic emission)[2].  This sound is your Key Note of the day and is important to your overall well being.  Try not to tune into the sounds around you so a quiet space is important.  Then hum that sound to yourself for 5-10 minutes.  Make the sound in the back of your throat to help vibrate the sound throughout your whole body. This technique is a small portion of the self-healing technique called Ototoning[3].
  • Find ways to move up and down. Up and down movement supports the flow of vibration through the ear and helps stabilize the body in general.  When feeling like your workload is overwhelming, stop and take a few minutes to run in place or jump for approximately 3 minutes.  If you hum while doing this, you’ll feel even more energized.
  • Find a quiet ‘break’ spot and close your eyes. What colors do you see?  Try producing a low vibrational sound and try to get it to vibrate throughout your whole body.  Continue the sound for about 5-10 minutes and watch for color changes.
  • Find something healthy to chew.  Chewing stimulates the nerve sensations passing through the ear and helps you maintain focus.

Sound is an important part of our lives.  We often do not consider the sounds around us as having an effect on how we function. While sound can negatively impact us emotionally and physically, sound can also impact us positively. Most existing sounding programs incorporate generic programming for all individuals, but The Davis Model of Sound Intervention determines what each person needs individually.  The approach has been used for therapeutic needs and recently has begun more broad based applications to help balance wellness challenges.  Simpler versions will be available within the next two years.
