Springtime Hope
Farewell to winter! The groundhog has not seen its shadow and the hope of spring is riding on the wind. While that wind may still be blustery and bring snowflakes to visit, the wheel of time turns to face the growing season ahead.
From garden plans to counting seeds, so many of us are in the mood to put our hands into the warming ground and feel the earth slip between our fingers. Mentioning mood, we find our spirits rising along with the sunnier skies and temperatures. The bone-numbing cold may also feel a bit more tolerable.
Can we see how our perspective alters when we hope for new growth? As the crocuses, daffodils, and other first signs of spring burst forth from the fields of whiteness, we meet the arriving promise of color and life. Hope, once again, urges us to do more and be a part of the change that is taking place.
How that change manifests itself in our lives may be very different, and that is okay. We may not be able to work the land on a daily basis, yet each of us carries the same kernel of spirit, the same genus of growth, that continues to inspire hope in no matter what bursts forth. It is all good!
Spring fills us with expectant change that we can sense when we are mindful of it. We can envision what the bulbs we have planted may look like above ground, and what the harvest of the seeds we sow might be in just a few short months from now. With this foresight, the amount of hope we have also expands.
The garden of our humanity is just as plentiful and full of possibility. Despite the sometimes-troubling images we may see, the impetus exists for us to rise above them. As with the bulbs and seeds, all we have to do is join in the growing process and go along with Nature’s springtime endeavors.
As we come together in the spiritual hope and growth of the new season, may the grace of springtime reach all of us in a balanced and peaceful way. May we look at this new season as a time of renewal, of leaving negative and old choices behind, and growing in a new and better way cohesively.
Our hearts tell us this is so, that together in love is the way to go, and that growth will come to us. We trust hopefully in the new promise of spring.
