The Relaxed Soul: Choosing to Stay Angry
By Dr Paul Haider
Someone once said: – “I hate love and I’m mostly angry, but meditation helps me chill my rage.”
Angry people have a much higher rate of high blood pressure, heart attacks, arthritis, back pain, and lowered immune systems that lead to all kinds of disease. And their family life, work life, and every other part of life is stricken with anxiety and stress. Basically angry people are stressing themselves out to the max constantly thinking about what happened and perhaps even plotting revenge. And if a person meditates… and keeps meditating eventually their anger will subside… but it takes time.
We can choose to stay angry… and that hurts everyone in the long run. But once we open up to the possibility of making a new choice then we can transmute anger into peace, love, and joy.
Long standing resentment does nothing to improve life. Be it in our own lives or between countries… the only answer is understanding that we are all human, with human failings, all with own faults, and that we all make mistakes, thus creating compassion for all…
