Are you Tuned into Fear or Certainty?

By Carole J. Obley

Economically speaking, the last four years have been tough for many people who have been forced to deal with job loss, real estate devaluations and looming issues of healthcare. There is still no foreseeable end to the far-reaching, radical changes our nation and others continue to experience. Significant shifts in our world are undeniably happening. Fear runs rampant in the minds and lives of those who allow these outer circumstances to dictate their reality and diminish inner peace.

Fortunately, there is another way we can choose to live. We need to acknowledge and practice the art of certainty- the innate “knowing” that all is well from the higher perspective of our soul.

How could this be considering the uncertainty of the changes that are happening?

From a spiritual perspective, change is necessary for our continued evolution as a species. Clearly, how we were living on our great planet wasn’t working; we were out of balance on many levels. Confronted with this reality, we could choose to wither in stagnation or seek change- the only viable choice we had.

As part of this process, many people have been confronted by the need to examine what they really value in life: things and money (materiality) or spiritual qualities (altruism, compassion, strength of character, for examples.) In this process of examination, we become aware of what is authentic and lasting versus what is superficial and fleeting. Spiritual awakening occurs and transformation begins.

This is what we are currently experiencing collectively, even though many do not realize it.  By its very nature, change brings uncertainty- unless we shift our perspective to view it as the necessary ingredient for growth. Using nature as an example, we can easily see that it is constantly adapting and transforming to accommodate changes in species, weather patterns and the environment.

Can you imagine what would happen to our planet if every plant and animal in the natural world caved into the fear of change?

It’s unfathomable- thankfully- because plants and animals do not have egos (which are based in fear) as we do. They know only the undiluted consciousness of presence- the Divine Life Force. We can learn profound lessons about ourselves by studying the natural world, not the least of which is acknowledging the certainty of the presence of Spirit within our soul. When we become committed to that truth, fear loses its grip. Our soul speaks to us when we silence our mind- the generator of all fear. You’ve got the power within- right here, right now- to extinguish fear and stop its rampage from paralyzing your life. All you have to do is remember the “big picture” of who you are really are- a part of Spirit, the life force itself. You are that and nothing less.
