A Daily Look Within – Day 0

Like any goal, it helps to be as specific as you can about your intention or prayer. Sure, people have prayed hard for years for general intentions like “world peace,” but your intention can only be as powerful as you make it. Whether you pray alone or with a prayer group of some number, it will help to focus your prayer: who, what, where, when, how. If, when you pray, you invoke other known deities or powers, remember that they are being called to assist your action of making a change happen.

It can be very important to envision how wide, deep, and far your action needs to reach in order to be effective. You certainly do not want to disrupt the lives of others because you have a need to pray. Does the person you’re praying for live close to you (downstairs or next-door), or are they far away in another state, country or continent? With Spirit, everything is possible, so concentrate on making your prayer actually reach your intended recipient. Do you want it to be focused and charged like a laser beam and reach them quickly, or do you want your prayer to fly on nature’s wing and envelop them securely in spiritual comfort? You, as the one making the intention, have the power to expend the energy for the most desired effect.

And, as the intender, you are the creative mastermind behind just how best to accomplish your spiritual goal. You are certain to find many suggested correspondences and ideas based on what has worked for others who have met with spiritual success. It can definitely make a difference to know just what to try, but the ultimate effort is going to be up to you. Will it matter if you only light one candle or should you use ten of particular colors set in a certain pattern? Pray one time, or perform a week-long novena? Only you can decide if it should be a short prayer or something more elaborate; whether it should rhyme or just make pertinent points of reference.
