The World is our Palette

By Carl Studna

We’re all artists in our own unique way, each with an exceptional palette and equipped with the perfect brushes, style and radiant vision. The problem is that many in our culture have forgotten the masterful artist that lives within. This shouldn’t come as a big surprise considering that traditional schooling doesn’t exactly encourage the arts, or a creative, out-of-the-box way of thinking and reasoning.

We have lived in a very linear, left-brain society for hundreds of years governed by science, industry and deductive reasoning. We’ve entered a time where it’s become necessary to see, feel, give and receive through the intuitive, artists eye in which we merge the creative with the intellect. Today’s’ greatest challenges are requiring a broader way of being in relationship with ourselves and with each other. True innovation and breakthroughs occur when we’re perceiving possibilities beyond cultural limiting thoughts.

Evoking the artist within each of us releases a rich palette of hues, colors, textures and truths. The more fully that we discover these innate, creative forms of expression that have been yearning to have a voice, the more fulfilled that we become and we serve in bringing an added dimension of richness to others.

How do we best access and express these innate, unique gifts? First and foremost, it’s necessary for us to release any past myths that we’ve been carrying around most of our lives that tell us that we’re not creative. The truth is, every single one of us is a radiant, unique emanation of the Divine Creation.

Think about it…nobody looks the same as you! Just as no snowflake designs are identical, there is no individual on this planet of over seven billion that shares your same features. This example serves as an undeniable reminder of your uniqueness. No one’s life experience is the same as yours. Nobody feels and sees things identically as you do. These basic examples not only reflect our uniqueness, but also prove that we are, by divine design, creativity in the flesh.

Now that we’re open to acknowledging that we are creative, there are some great tools around us that can serve in opening to our inspired, multidimensional gifts and forms of expression.

What’s calling you? Inspired vision begins flooding through us as we devote time to being still and listening. What do you love that absolutely brings you joy, filling you with a sense of freedom and fulfillment? Asking questions such as these on a daily basis will in time bring you some answers. Books such as ‘The Artist’s Way’ offer practical tools and processes for opening to our unique forms of creative expression.

Go for it by simply taking a leap of faith and enrolling in that pottery class that you’ve always wanted to attend, or be of service to your favorite charity through giving your unique talents, or perhaps follow through with that invention that’s been tugging at your sleeve for several years. Your personal yearnings will emerge as you continue to plant the seeds that in time bring clarity and direction.
