30 Days of Self Healing – Day 30
These days, everybody is texting, e-mailing, and phoning each other. The hug seems to have gone the way of the VCR! So technology, along with our fast-paced schedules, has led us almost in the opposite direction from a good old-fashioned hug. Instead of finding a greater physical, emotional, and spiritual connection, we’re becoming more and more withdrawn from the external world.
The simple act of hugging accomplishes many things that you may have never considered. For example, hugs:
- Feel good
- Dispel loneliness
- Overcome fear
- Open doors to feelings
- Build self-esteem
- Foster altruism
- Slow down aging (Huggers stay young longer.)
- Help curb appetite (We eat less when we’re nourished by hugs and when our arms are busy wrapped around others.)
- Ease tension
- Fight insomnia
- Keep arms and shoulder muscles in condition
- Provide stretching exercise if you are short
- Provide stooping exercise if you are tall
- Offer a wholesome alternative to promiscuity
- Offer a healthy, safe alternative to alcohol and other drug abuse (Better hugs than drugs!)
- Affirm physical being
- Are democratic (Anyone is eligible!)
