A Daily Look Within – Day 1
Earth…dirt, soil, ash, loam, sand…alone, this element of Creation has caused many other life forms to spring forth. Molten rock forms our land masses and raises to form mountain ranges or rolling hills. Okay, so this happens often over millennia versus our time here, but Time and Earth are a duo that encompasses much. It takes a lot of time for planet Earth to become, just as it takes time for soil to grow new plants, or to stabilize life.
Earth is the environmental substance that holds us and our food and drink in one compact place. We are fortunate that we do not have to travel to get food from another planet or our water from someplace else. We grow our food from seeds planted in the Earth. In the “circle of life,” other animals live on our planet become food to us, such as fish and cattle. Earth is evolving and changing, as evidenced by earthquakes, volcanoes, and electromagnetic forces that permeate the planet.
The seasons are tied to our home and this planet. Depending where you are in the world and the planet’s relationship to our Sun, there is a change of seasons to which Earth is connected. Spring is when the Earth begins to warm after the long, cold winter. We plant seeds that will warm along with the dirt into the Summer months. Summer is often hot and causes things to expand along with the heat. By the time Fall rolls around and we harvest our plants, the Earth is getting ready for it’s dormant period. Winter is like a resting time for Earth—the temperatures drop, plants and animals hibernate, and things seem to take a break for a while. We are so fortunate to live on a rotating planet, which by its own heating and cooling keeps our environment relatively normal and consistent.
