A Daily Look Within – Day 19

Our mind tells us there is no possible way the assistant is not horribly maimed for life. Surely the magician has managed to sever a limb or cut her to shreds in the darkness of that basket; made Swiss cheese out of her; at the very least given her reason to see a plastic surgeon. Yet, as the magician teasingly removes the swords, we see no blood or carnage evident. We see nothing to withhold our hope or the possibility that the magician is truly skilled in his art. With the dramatic removal of the final sword, the assistant pops the top off the basket and emerges, unscathed, from the basket to thunderous applause for a such a thrilling performance.

* * * * * Next, imagine a small, everyday pot of water warming on a stove–perhaps readying for tea or for a cup of rice to be tossed inside. We peek into the pot and see it begin to bubble from the heat. There are bubbles all along the bottom and side, which make their way to the top to eventually become a rolling boil. Each of the bubbles moves, breaking free of its origination, struggling through the density of the water within, to pop!, as more bubbles continue to form, roll, and disrupt the contents.

* * * * * I would like you to imagine next what I like to call a cauldron: a larger pot usually made of dark, cast iron, capable of being placed directly upon an open fire. You have probably seen this item before…witches supposedly use them to brew their potions (either outdoors or in a fireplace). And if you are a fan of cartoons, it is the huge pot that Bugs Bunny is usually found taking a scalding, hot bath when a nemesis decides to make rabbit stew. A cauldron on a large fire is nothing more than a large version of the small, everyday pot I mentioned earlier. When heated, the contents will come to boil as described above, causing all sorts of action within the confines of the container.
