A Daily Look Within – Day 22
Being born under the sign of Aquarius, the Water bearer, I feel a certain connection to Water, although my sign is really an Air sign. Having swam my way through summers and shoveled my way through winters, I do feel a certain—shall I say, “kinship”—with the Water element. Again, through my observations and letting my mind and thoughts wander on the element of Water, this is my discourse on this essential, natural elemental being.
Water is a weighty, heavy element. It is as important as Air to so many forms of life here on Earth. In its regular, benign state, Water is fresh and clear. It represents cleanliness: How much washing and scrubbing is performed with Water or Water-based liquids? Blessed and charged, Water imbues and carries those blessings to whatever it touches, in whatever way it is used. Think Baptism or the sprinkling of Water that takes place in ceremonies at various times of the year or in religious rites.
Regular, uncharged Water is used everywhere and has many applications: drinking, all sorts of beverages, food growing, preparation and cooking, all sorts of washing and cleaning, bathing and soaking, freezing as in ice and snow, holding things in suspension, burning/melting/scalding via steam, misting, magnification…the list goes on.
Water, being a liquid, can move. Unlike Air, the movement of which is most often unseen, Water’s movement can be seen, felt, and heard. Water can fall in a drop or a torrent, run in a trickle of a line, the babble of a brook, the smooth course of a stream, the flowing currents of a river, or the choppy waves of the ocean. It can follow the lay of the land or a bend in a pipe. It can be as lazy and idle as a standing pond full of moss and lily pads, or as punishing as a tidal wave or tsunami.
