A Daily Look Within – Day 22
The smallest droplets of Water will make a “drip” or “plop” sound. Larger bodies of Water, like oceans, can “roar” in their intensity. Often, you can hear Water before actually seeing it. People have been known to gravitate to where Water is abundant. Animals can sense where to find Water, even if it is underground. Plants draw Water from the soil with their roots.
Water is known to soothe…the elemental “comfort food.” Many of the foods humans associate with comfort are Water-based…think chicken soup or gravy. The sound of moving Water can be brought indoors. Fountains of many types send trickles or cascades or rivulets down rocks or small waterfalls to settle into little pools at the bottom, where the Water gets pumped back up to start the process over again. As on the large scale, Water falls from clouds down to the earth. It can collect in underground wells, run down mountains, and form mighty rivers which feed our even mightier oceans all over the planet.
The fact that between 70 and 80 percent of our world is covered with Water conveys its omnipresence. Water is on or in everything. It’s the big deal…you don’t want to mess around with Water. And yet, we do—we throw Water balloons, freeze it into ice, drink it up and spit it out.
Water is probably the most undervalued and un-honored entity, considering its immensity–until there is a shortage of it. Droughts, which happen throughout the world, can weaken people, the food chain, and economies. Lack of Water can cause things to shrivel, turn to dust, make people move and leave their homeland. You cannot live without any Water. You could probably learn to live with less Water, but not without any Water entirely.
