“Emotional Practical Choice“ – Balancing Feelings with Less Fear
A question for you, no joke: Why did the chicken cross the road? Think about that one for a few minutes….
Have you ever received sage words from someone who advises, “Oh, stop being so emotional…you need to be more practical?” It can be an indication that we might have to choose sides sometimes. The middle path can contain some curves, so it might be a good time to take at look at them.
There are times when we have to take the emotional route and follow our heart. We need to do what might not make sense sometimes, at least in the eyes of those who see and know life as being a more practical matter than we might feel it is. Advice from others is usually good to get. However, knowing our own mind and heart, and truly understanding our personal reason for doing something is even more important.
Often, we are led by others to adhere to the “practical” side of things. We might even equate practical to mean “material,” as well. If someone has it in their heart to follow a dream (for example, become an actor, or have a career in music or art) they can often be discouraged because there is little money in it, or their dream is seen as unrealistic or impractical. Not everyone has the “talent” to flourish with a dream as its seed. We are so quick to discount the role individual choice has in the overall scheme of things. Trust in how things will go? What is practical or safe about that?
