A Daily Look Within – Day 29
We can let fear run things, of course. Outfit everything with bulletproof glass, and maybe walk around like hamsters in a plastic ball. Let the people “in charge” manage safety for all of us…one size fits all? Safe for you safe for me, equality in safety? Not when one side wears a gun and the other does not. That is not equal. That is implied force, whether we like it or not.
Few against the many, more than right against wrong. It is for our safety, surely, because they tell us so. The animals in the forest know when it is hunting season, and they know to run away. You stand out, you leave. If they come looking for you wearing guns, best not to be where they are. Practical? Maybe life-saving.
Compliance is expected; resistance is futile. This could be fine when things are running smoothly and nothing needs to change. When is the last time you knew that to be true–that nothing needs to change…at all…anywhere? We are not talking about the peace and happiness of practicality OR the emotional sway of extreme frenzy; just the natural progress of change. Safe or not, we cannot keep it from happening.
We may hold deep respect the law and authority, and we have to start realizing when safety and authority becomes onerous. We need to see when the institutions do more than just serve, they harm. When we are fed something because someone else says it is good for me that makes me wonder and question.
