A Daily Look Within Day 8

Day 8: Elemental Contemplation: AIR
As we head into our second week of the mindfulness challenge, please take a few moments to look back at the subjects covered up to this point, and get comfortable with how much your consciousness has expanded in just seven days! Consider that reflection is an important aspect of mindfulness. Reflection is mentioned this week and again in week four as we expand the horizon of consciousness.
The sky is wide open, and that puts us in a good position to move on to our next Elemental Contemplation: AIR. With the air element, we will move into areas of the mind, education, and critical thinking. We think of air as being emptiness; however, when we are conscious we consider that air may be contained in many things. Think of the vibrations carried on broadcast airwaves, and how so-called, “empty” containers are filled with air! When we contemplate we are encouraged to empty our minds–and perhaps let the air in to breathe new life into the way our brain operates.
Air is all around us, yet it is “nothing” until you feel its presence or force against your body. It is what we breathe in our atmosphere, and its molecules change in type and density from the pressure of gravity against the surface of the Earth up to the highest reaches of the void that is outer space. The East compass point is most associated with Air. Air can be soft and gentle, able to move a feather on the lightest breeze, or become a tornado that whips whole buildings from their foundations and tosses massive debris like cars and trucks as though they were mere playthings.
