A New Spiritual and Intuitive You! Day 6

Happiness is probably the ultimate goal for pursuing spirituality or developing your inner guidance. At the same time happiness can help your intuition by making you more optimistic, less doubtful and more positive about your progress.
A good question to ask yourself, is what makes you happy? When you think about it, no one thing leads to happiness, there are often many things that can and do make you happy. Sometimes we aren’t really sure what makes us happy. The first step is to recognize when we are happy, and that means to practice noticing our happy moments. We often enjoy our happy moments that have happened in the past. It’s almost as if we are happier recalling them than experiencing them! We can experience our happiness more fully by being a bit more mindful. That means being present in the experience, not worrying about other things, or thinking of this or that, just being. When you recognize or think, “Hey I really am having a good time,” just pause to soak it in. I think that by acknowledging our happy emotional state when it happens it makes happiness grow. One of the things you can do is create a happiness journal to write down the things that make you happy. This gives you feedback and helps you recognize what you really enjoy and what gives you your happy moments. This also gives you a double bonus because often times the things that make us happy are things we then can have gratitude for. The more gratitude you have, the more satisfied you can be with your life because you’ll see what things give you real satisfaction and that creates more happiness. This is the same as “wanting what you have rather than what you don’t have.” People who appreciate and enjoy what they already have, what ever it is, have been found to have a higher level of happiness.
