Astrology Forecast for July 1-7 2013
Did you sense the tide turning last week? Several times, in different directions, sometimes at once? We are in the midst of an enormous sea change, and the waters are still swirling this way and that. They are going to be highly active all summer. This week gives us more of a look at what’s churning and, just as importantly, how we feel about it.
Jupiter has brought his expansive properties to the home and family-focused sign of Cancer, which he is visiting for the first time since mid-2001-2002. This tour of duty promises high drama and emotions, as we are already seeing. His first 24 hours there alone precipitated terrain-altering Supreme Court decisions on marriage and an unprecedented, women-led pushback against legislation in Texas on reproductive rights. That’s the first splash of the rapids that lie ahead, as Jupiter moves into a grand trine in water with Saturn (law, social order) and Neptune (love, illusion, deceit). For a longer look at what this link-up means, go back to last week’s forecast. Just keep in mind: everything is enlarged, exaggerated, super-sized and aggrandized, triggering overwhelming outpourings of emotion and intensely personal reactions.
This week, we’re running through a gauntlet focused on relationships, money, attitudes about possessions, self-worth and value systems. Their ruler, Venus — who is, by the way, adding the larger-than-life, dramatic bent of Leo to this mix — is setting off two major configurations in the sky. In keeping with the current level of subtlety, the gauntlet begins with a shove and ends with an explosion, as she contacts not only the static arm of the grand trine, but also the cosmic change agents that have been upending our lives for the past year.
The shove comes on Monday and butts her up against authority, rules, laws, commitments, obligations and other constraints. We want X and someone tells us no, or puts on the brakes, or makes us eat our vegetables first. (No coincidence that this is the day a second special session of the Texas legislature is convening to reconsider the abortion restriction statute that went off the rails last week. This battle is going to be pitched from both directions; Venus in Leo means the feisty woman who claimed the capitol as their house are not backing down, at all. The police aren’t going to be light-handed, either. At all.) This force is not necessarily argumentative or reactive in all cases, however. It could funnel situations into workable structures, such as relationships or deals responding to pressure to take form or possibly even commit.
This impact propels us to two crossroads. Monday brings a navigational choice as Venus inconjuncts Neptune: will we be guided by love, compassion or some other higher urging, or will we slip into illusion, deceit, manipulation or escapism? (Back to that Texas legislation: could further shenanigans or obfuscation be likely, given that the leadership backdated the time stamp last week to make it look like the bill had passed before the deadline that ultimately stopped it?) Friday’s choice, when Venus meets Pluto, involves octaves of desire and power. Are we honest about our motivations and desires? Are we pushing past fear and going for what we want? Do we crave something/one because we truly want it, or because it belongs to someone else (and we’re trying to best the owner)?
Over the weekend, as Venus nears the end of the gauntlet, the Moon joins in the grand trine. Emotions swell, fluctuate (possibly flowing in several directions at once) and rush into a stable channel where the water feels fine. This could involve wine coolers for some people, time in the pool or at the movies for others, and probably a momentary pause when all’s right with your world.
Then comes the fireworks display, as the Moon and Venus set off volatile Uranus. The center can not hold; things fall apart. Work this to your benefit. Take chances. Open windows. Kick out walls. Break out. Monday: The week starts with a weirdly conflicted atmosphere. The predawn hours activate incentive, gumption and the motivation to communicate. Yet the air we awaken into doesn’t encourage expressing any of that outwardly. What we do get out is not likely to go where we want it to, or maybe anywhere at all, or to last. The reason is that the Moon is void of course from 2:49 AM – 5:44 PM EDT, and it’s better to sit with energies than to ram through an agenda. That’s going to be tempting, still, with Venus slamming Saturn during the void. This is another in a string of planetary aspects taking shape during voids this year, and once again the main activity involves our inner world. This clash is pushing conflict up through the surface. After the Moon enters Taurus and clears the void, the right words flow. You have the perspective to know which battles are futile. (Probably most of them.) You can even access a higher perspective of love, grace or connectedness to all of life. Optimism and good times prevail. Whatever the void births within you promises to take you to a happy place.
Tuesday: The overnight hours explore scenarios of feeling stymied, feeling inspired and feeling motivated to demand attention, validation or better payment. (One possible line-up: mulling over a relationship and deciding to push for it.) Today is the extreme from yesterday in productivity and effectiveness. Enjoy the focus, self-confidence and liberating aftermath.
Wednesday: Brains and tongues are off and running. As for your actual feet, errands are more efficiently run in the morning (in PDT, before 9 or after 2:30). After the Moon goes void of course at 11:52 AM EDT, you could run down one enticing rabbit hole after another. It could be worth goofing off and enjoying yourself, because that won’t come easily in the evening. After the void ends at 5:23 PM EDT, edginess is rampant, as if we’re braced for unpleasantness around the corner.
Thursday: Happy Fourth of July! Concepts of country and patriotism could be on many a mind this holiday, what with so much activity in Cancer (and last week’s flurry of game-changing rulings and legislative actions). The dreamworld does not offer a restful preparation for the day. Instead, a cosmic alarm clock goes off during the night and signals that it’s time for you to get moving — not into the day, but into yourself. (You know what that means.) Cravings, temptations, obsessions and unsatisfied itches are on the prowl. Will they divert you from yourself, or is it time as well to consider which are appropriate and which are unobtainable (or best left untouched)? The daylight vibes put these questions on the backburner. Healthy hedonism surfaces early and gradually slides into outright escapism. A party atmosphere blossoms by evening. Say yes whenever possible. Doors are opening, and there’s no telling what goodies are behind them.
Friday: Dreams are cinematic, possibly flirting with the horror or mystery genre and leading to a surprise ending that you may want to carry over into your waking life. Relationships are edgy today (unexpressed undercurrents, perhaps?), communications mildly disorienting and unnerving. Mercury’s watery retrograde is making us all a little queasy. Watch for an adjustment or choice late in the evening. Giving up a desire — or attachment to it — could result in the desire being satisfied. Odd how that works.
Saturday: The morning starts off with a bang and then — and then — floats — as the Moon goes void of coursefrom 8:31 AM to 6:31 PM EDT. The void promises to be active, just not necessarily steerable. It’s as if we’re shot out of a cannon and then fly and fly and fly through the air. The atmosphere is conducive to chatting up a storm, running errands, letting the wind and energies take us this way and that. The mood remains light and buoyant and encourages outright indulgence late in the evening. Feels like the backdrop of a carefree holiday weekend.
Sunday: As if to bookend yesterday, the weekend — a long holiday for many people — is going out with a bang. We begin it calming, grounding and consolidating overnight, growing more certain, secure and determined, as if angels are whispering, “Good job; all’s well; you’re on the right path.” Share your good mood. The day is heart-driven and sociable. The quality of your interactions — and of your choice of companions — reflects your recent personal growth. When you feel the insistence to break out of your shell, your routine or whatever you thought the day was about, go with it. Changes are calling, effortless, beneficial. Think of the weekend’s playout as your personal fireworks display.
