PURITY OF HEART
Along their 21-day, 3,000 mile journey, it was evident that tension was high; each person felt a strong sense of responsibility to learn the correct way to kneel, breathe, sing, chant, bow and walk as they entered each holy spot. Despite their fears of scorn and ridicule, they found that every single location wholeheartedly welcomed them because of one thing: purity of heart. Language, cultural and religious barriers aside, their sincerity and purity were appreciated. What a beautiful lesson, that sincerity and goodwill are always apparent, and our heart energy is always felt.
COME TOGETHER
The message that was most interwoven and witnessed throughout the film was one of harmony and unity:
- Despite stressful travel conditions (three overnight train rides and three overnight bus rides), lack of sleep, and difficulty being fish out of water, the group maintained constant support for one another.
- Despite age differences, financial capacities, beliefs and educational backgrounds, the group became one family, embracing each other’s differences and learning from one another.
- Despite drastically differing religious and spiritual backgrounds, everyone came together while performing the traditions at the holy locations.
