Feng Shui from the Inside, Out – Day 18
For younger children, pictures of them with their parents, either together or separately – are essential, but I prefer to place those images in the Resources area of a child’s room, just to the right of his or her headboard, (when in the bed), providing a constant influence more felt than seen and one that provides a sense of security while also reminding the child subliminally of the local source of wisdom.
Parental pictures in children’s bedrooms are especially important when the parents are not living together…and provide a good reminder for parents of the necessity of working together for the benefit of the child whose needs trump any differences between the two adults responsible for the existence of said child. The pictures need not be big, just present.
When a child is old enough to request that the pictures of parents be removed from the room then it’s likely time to remove them. Don’t make a fuss but do appear somewhat saddened, perhaps mentioning, without too much obvious feeling, that, well, you guess they’re growing up now, and leave it at that. Ideally, that lets them know that you care that they want to cast you out (energetically), but that you respect their process.
The bedroom of a committed couple is really a relationship area all its own. Ideally, there’s nothing in that room that doesn’t relate either to the relationship between the pair or to getting a good night’s sleep. Images of paired animals or trees are wonderful but images of the couple are even better. In addition, a man should have on his bureau or near it – preferably on the right, back of the dresser or on the right wall beside it, mimicking the position of the Relationship area on the bagua – a photograph – a really good photograph – of his partner.
