Feng Shui from the Inside, Out – Day 19
Feng Shui from the Inside, Out? Day 19

Relationship 2
Our first experience of life is the drive to survive. A little body being born is under tremendous pressure – literally – and going through the most remarkable transformation it will ever endure, transitioning from the life of an underwater being to that of a land animal and the first experience it will have will be in relationship to at least one other human being. Relationship lies at the foundation of what it means to be human. Relationships have created the entire built world and civilization as we know it. Relationships are critical to life on earth.
What we know about relationships begins, as does all our learning, when we are in utero. When a pregnant woman responds, relates, eats, feels, when she does anything, the growing child within her is the recipient of whatever chemical, hormonal cocktail her body dishes up as a result. Our first relationship, with our mother, is completely out of our control but the cells of our bodies, which take all this in, also record and remember the input she – and we – receive so our bodies are born pre-programmed by our mother’s responses to the world around her when she was carrying us.
Once we are out in the world we enter into a situation where our relationships will be out of our control for quite a few years, yet our bodies will be absorbing at every moment information about not only the relationships we are experiencing but the relationships that the people around us are having as well, all of this often emotionally laden information becoming a part of who we are, informing us for future use, what relationships are all about.
