Feng Shui from the Inside, Out – Day 22

Then, as now, books are an invaluable resource. George Carlin once said, “If you go home with somebody and they don’t have books, don’t sleep with them.” Well, OK, that’s not quite what he said, but that’s exactly what he meant. And what he was implying was that he, at least, didn’t trust someone whose mind wasn’t available and open to new information and by new information I don’t necessarily mean cutting-edge science, just information that you don’t already know.

Inherent in this segment of the bagua is the proposition that if you don’t take in information – about whatever interests you – then you have nothing to offer anyone else, which was essentially what George Carlin was saying.

Many people choose to place their books in this area of a room; the resonance is perfect. Certifications and diplomas and awards are well-placed here. The elemental energy associated with Resources is Metal, so trophies or medals serve to activate the energy here too. And although all these things represent past achievements, as in R&R, and for all reasons elaborated in yesterday’s ramble about the Space Time Continuum, they also promise your energy to a future where you share what you have learned.

If you actually like to read books, this facet of the bagua – energetically quiet as a rule because of its placement at the tail end of the energy flow –is a great place for a chaise or an armchair with some good lighting, creating a comfortable altar to reading where the bibliophile can settle in and read.
