Dance, and creating a flag
In dance, flags, scarves, and banners have been used in a variety of ways. Flag dancing is beautiful for the spirit and soul. Flag dancing has been used in many cultures across the world, to bring depth and meaning to life. Designing and making flags provides a creative, and spiritual experience. Scarves are also used in different dance forms as accessories. Scarves have been used by dancers as headbands and belts. Flagging can be erotic, sexual, and is feeling and emotional.
Creating a flag
-Purchase a dowel rod at a hardware store. Keep in mind and calculate the width needed, based on the weight and length of the flag material. Must be strong enough to support the fabric as you wave and dance with it. You can also use a sturdy tree branch, in place of a dowel rod.
-Paint the dowel rod. Choose what colors you feel attracted to. You can purchase different color ribbons, and wrap around the rod, and glue/or knot on securely. Allow to dry completely.
-Purchasing fabric. Silk, organza, and polyester are favorites. There are some wonderful fabrics for purchase in art and craft stores, with hypnotic, psychedelic colors and patterns woven through. These look spectacular when dancing and waving, rhythmically to music. Purchasing long scarves, in place of fabrics, another option.
-Hem the fabric with a sewing machine, or by hand, with needle and thread. Pin the material down a half inch all the way around and sew. Leave the side for the rod open, and hem a couple inches, leaving a gap to slide and secure the dowel rod into.
